I suck at poetry.   Prose is my thing.    But I don't want to type something long and drawn out... I want something simple and elegant that expresses how much he means to me with the greatest possible eloquence.   And I'm failing miserably.   This is my latest attempt, but again, no where near good enough.

I came to you
broken
forlorn
bereft of hope

I couldn't expect much
my broken heart
wouldn't let me

You reached out
took my hand
raised me up

You held me
warmed me
kissed my tears away

Once a beacon in the distance
You are now the light
that illuminates my world
